Coming off of a hot hot hot holiday weekend I’m feeling it. A lot of family, friends, good times, you know the deal. It reminds you of who you are, where you came from, etc. For this reason I’m extra excited about Thursday’s show at Schubas. Getting to play with two solid bands that all genuinely appreciate each other at one of the great rooms to see a show in the country, Schubas. Nothing more than a hunch, but I feel like it’s going to be a real special show. Throw on top that it’s possibly our last chance to hear the new songs live before recording and I’m thinking, damn, can’t wait for Thursday.
We’re mega excited to play next Friday, May 11th at Chicago’s Empty Bottle with VHS or BETA and Perfect Kiss. What a great bill! If your a facebooker http://www.facebook.com/events/180862182036659/ for info. Otherwise head over to EmptyBottle.com
This has been around for a minute, but take a look if you haven’t because we have our discography available to stream any old time at sybris.bandcamp.com. Yeah! Free! Even a couple of free downloadables as well.
We’re playing with Asobi Seksu in a post-valentines love/hate, collage/haze on February 19th at Reggie’s right here in the Chi, just south of the loop in China Town. It’s a going to be stupid awesome all the way around with Fox the Cat opening and destroying. It’s a school night so look for a 7:30 start, but check back on that because it’s unofficial.
It’s been quiet a while since we last played with our friends in DPC, and tomorrow at Subterranean in Chi we get to do it again. This band has always been a favorite of mine. Original, unpretentious songs and they’re not afraid to hit a pedal or two during a show. If your new Chicago on 10/15 we hope you can make it out. Here’s the details;
Driftless Pony Club / Sybris w/ Too Close To Perfect
@ Subterranean 2011 W. North Ave, Chicago
October 15th, 7:30 doors, All Ages
I know it seems we’ve been hibernating, but we haven’t exactly been sleeping. Big things are going on behind the scenes. We’ve written a big chunk of the next record, tentatively titled ‘Gold on Hold’. We’re working on some shows as well so I’ll keep you all in the loop. Until then here’s an old but goodie from out first EP ‘Devil’.
PRESS RELEASE 1-27-11
Sybris has been joined by drummer Clayton “Louie” DeMuth, who made the following comment: “It’s an honor to play in Sybris. I love the songs and I’ve always wanted to play with them. For me it’s a dream come true.”
Guitarist Phil Naumann adds: “We’re very happy to have Clayton join. Not only is he a great, hard hitting drummer, he’s also a very easygoing person with great musical drive. With Clayton in the band, there’s a whole new sense of renewed energy, creativity and ambition. The old songs already sound like he’s been playing them for years, and the new material has a real spark to it.”
Sybris will perform with their new lineup April 30th at Darklord Day at the Three Floyds Brewery in Munster, Indiana.
